A Repeatable Video Review and Publishing Checklist

A repeatable checklist for the last mile of short-form video: what to verify in the automatic edit (hook, cuts, captions, framing), how to prepare each platform's post, and how to publish consistently so quality stays high at volume.

A creator reviews a video on his phone with headphones, next to a checklist for captions, audio, framing and the opening, ready to publish.
A short, repeatable checklist for the last mile before you post.

Review every automatic edit before publishing: check meaning, cuts, captions, framing, and the exported file. Use a repeatable checklist so the same checks happen even when you are publishing several videos.

This is the "review and publish" end of the creator workflow.

Why a checklist beats vibes

Automatic edits can miss context or introduce caption errors. A fixed checklist gives you a way to catch those problems before publication. Watch the complete result rather than assuming a successful export means the edit is correct.

Checklist A — Review the edit

Before you export, confirm:

  • Hook first. The strongest moment opens the clip, in the first second or two.
  • One clear point. The clip says one thing and stands on its own.
  • Clean cuts. No cut clipped a word or broke the meaning; the pacing doesn't drag or rush.
  • Accurate captions. Names, brands, and jargon are correct, and the captions are in sync.
  • Right framing. Vertical 9:16, subject in frame, nothing important cropped.
  • Readable on a phone. Captions and any graphics sit clear of the platform's UI.

Checklist B — Prepare the post

For each platform:

  • Format and length. Meets the platform's current specs (aspect ratio, duration).
  • Caption / description. A short, specific caption; echo the hook in text where it helps.
  • Cover / thumbnail. A clear first frame or a chosen cover.
  • Sound. Music or original audio set as intended; levels reasonable.
  • Accessibility. On-screen captions present; a described alt where the platform supports it.

Checklist C — Publish and track

  • Schedule, don't scramble. Queue the post for your cadence instead of posting reactively.
  • Post consistently. A steady rhythm beats bursts.
  • Note what you shipped. Keep a simple record so you can see what's working over time.
  • Review results periodically. Let real data — not one post's numbers — guide what you make next.

Make it yours

Trim this to the checks that matter for your content and keep it short enough that you'll actually run it. A checklist you skip helps no one; a five-item one you run every time keeps quality steady.

Frequently asked questions

Isn't the automatic edit enough?

It handles the mechanics; the checklist catches the occasional miss and the platform prep.

How long should reviewing take?

Allow at least enough time to watch the full clip and inspect its captions, framing, and export. Corrections may require another pass; there is no reliable universal time limit.

Should I use the same checklist for every platform?

Reuse the review checks; adjust the "prepare the post" items per platform.

What if I'm posting a lot?

A short checklist matters more at volume, not less.

Run it on your next post

Copy the three checklists, cut them down to what fits your content, and run them on your next short before it goes live. The edit is automatic; this is the habit that keeps it good.

Use the caption guide for the text review and the vertical framing guide when checking crops.
